Just Think . . . .
Before I begin my weekly post. I would like to ask you to do something. Read the following instructions below, and should you have time, do them right now.
First, look at your surroundings.
Second, take a minute or two to gather your own thoughts.
Lastly, think.
Just think. Wonder. Ponder, if you will. At this point in time, are you being generally productive? Does thinking help you? Do you have a lot of items on your to-do list that need to be taken care of? Are you stressed, satisfied, anxious, or calm?
It is interesting to me how much time we can sit around and just think about life and ideas, of different things that we would like to do with our lives, and yet, never seem to actually fulfill such ideas. Is it because they are not dreams that we are solely passionate about? Or perhaps we are just so overwhelmed to try and do these things that it is best to just do nothing at all. To me, whichever way you look at it, it is a never-ending cycle.
Let’s break that never-ending cycle. Why not? The typical motivational quotes we hear throughout the years are along the lines of “You can do it,”or ,”If you can dream it, you can do it,” and “Don’t stop believing”. Cheesy as they seem, there is no reason not to strive for success or accomplish some task or idea or dream on your to-do list.

The Difficulties of Being Busy
This past week has been one of those times where thinking has allowed me to produce wonderful ideas for the organizations I am involved in and things I wish to do with my life.
It also currently has not gotten me anywhere. Not yet, anyway.
Yes, I have managed to create a registration form called “Call for Performers” for the benefit concert I am heading. My sisters of the Alpha Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) were able to provide feedback on it, and now it is open for the students and faculty of the Fred Fox School of Music. The idea for this application is to reach out to the college community to feature the talented artists within it. What better way to do so than give them a performance opportunity? Hopefully they have an interest in seizing that opportunity.
“I am floating down a rapid current in the river with a life jacket on . . . and thinking.”
Other than that, I am floating down a rapid current in the river with a life jacket on . . . and thinking. Juggling my capstone, work, midterms, and other SAI fundraising events and tasks has been keeping me plenty busy. Time management has been forgotten this past week simply because my time is spent doing everything but my projects and aspirations. Perhaps this reflection will allow me to be more aware of my time and act as motivation to move forward.
Now, as I write this, I realize that asking for help in this situation may be more beneficial than not, and looking at the more finite details in planning the benefit concert, creating a CD of music, and writing mock contracts for the CD helps greatly.

This is where connections make great allies. I would like to commend Andy Francis (Owner/Composer, AWFMusic) for aiding me in my search for musicians to be a part of my CD. His sample recordings are perfect for the works I plan to include in the CD. For me, original compositions and works of public domain work best. Note, I am not yet a lawyer!
Please feel free to listen to one of his sample recordings of a work by Erik Satie below that we hope to include in the CD project.
To conclude, I am excited for what I plan to accomplish not this next week, but this month.
In the words of Dory,
“Just keep swimming.”
